Jordyn's Making Me Watch Misfits
We’ll see how this goes. Every time Robert Sheehan comes on screen, she pretty much dies.
Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.

IMPORTANT
Our AP Bio class had a discussion today about a dangerous chemical affecting public health. Dihydrogen monoxide has been found in plastic bottles, plumbing systems, children’s play areas, and in vapor form in the atmosphere. This spring, levels of dihydrogen monoxide have been steadily increasing; the chemical is concentrated in lakes, rivers, and streams, as well as freshwater aqueducts that...

Regret Is Worse Than Failure
And the risk-taking teen in me emerges once again.
This might be simply because I’m young, but I’ve come to believe that submitting yourself to the risk of failure is by far preferrable to living with regret. The majority of what my friends and I complain about aren’t instances of failed plans, but of missed opportunities.
This isn’t to say that we never experience failure- we obviously do. But...

So
My friend, who is going in our group for Junior prom, calls me up this morning. She died her hair bright red on Wednesday, and just washed it today. Her shower now “looks like a crime scene” and she’s the color of a telly tubby.
The day of junior prom. Really?
My mom and I going to drop off baby wipes and rubbing alcohol. I’ll try and snap some pics. lol

"Beloved" Not So Beloved
A great article from Kristofer Noceda, giving a more professional summary of last night’s debate. Click here: http://livermore.patch.com/articles/not-so-beloved
To quote one of my favorite comments:
“Do these parents who are trying to get the book banned veto television, the internet, the newspaper, magazines, video games, and the cinema from their children as well? The quote,...

After Two Hours of "Spirited Discussion"
(In which the closing argument I used directly quoted several student responses to my earlier post regarding the question of approval)
Motion to prohibit the novel “Beloved” from the AP English Literature reading list: All in favor?
Aye. Aye. …
All opposed? Nay. Nay. … Nay.
I move to approve the novel “Beloved” for AP English Literature reading. I second....

RE: Board Meetings and Beloved (?)
jordynwright: Well gee. They should ban this book; it’s an exposition of a cultural taboo. That along with further standardizing testing and adhering strictly to factory modeled 8-3 bell schedules. Also, they should continue to increase out of school workload while heightening the societal requirements to get into college. While we’re at it, let’s throw in the loss personal...

But ah I see, I see.
Yeah let me know what you guys end up deciding, it sounds interesting! Especially since Beloved is SOO controversial

-xtinamaria-deactivated20110619 asked: Ah I don't believe in censoring books in school. I read the quotes and yes, they are graphic but I feel like when a school tries to limit and withhold a piece of art they're doing more a disservice to students rather than protecting them. I think they have good intentions but in the real world, there won't be censoring of the harsh realities. The book is also a Pulitizer prize...

Board Meetings and Beloved (?)
Posting from the computer in front of my seat (our seat, sorry Kathryn) at the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District board meeting.
Usually we just report on how happy we all are at Livermore and Granada, but there’s something interesting set for this agenda. We’re debating whether or not to approve a controversial book for AP English Lit classes.
The book is Beloved by Toni...

Tips For Young Hypebeasts
I’ve realized that there are some things in “the game” that might confuse new hypebeasts. So, tell help you guys out, I’ve compiled a list of unusual points to take note of:
Somewhere along the line, it got cool for your “Raiders” hat to say “Los Angeles” even though they’ve been in Oakland for #BasedGod knows how long. (see next two points)
When repping sports team apparel, knowledge of said...

Real Talk in the Scion
Last night made me realize some things
Value is determined inherently. But you can’t start with wanting social achievement and then working backwards. You have to be someone and then you’ll have the social approval you want.
Expect the worst, prepare for the best. You’ll never be taken off guard, nor become too disappointed. But you won’t fall into the trap of...
